Every rep you take 28.april.2022

God kveld folkens!

At CrossFit Amsterdam they have some quotes on the boxes they use for box jumps, step-ups, etc. One of them is: 'Education is important, but big biceps are importanter". I thought that was a fitting quote for today's workout of pull-ups, hand-release push-ups, front rack lunges, and bend-over rows. (another quote on one of the boxes is "No, we are not on steroids, you are just being a p*ssy". Go figure.)

Today was focussed on building as much strength as possible by doing mostly strict movements. When training, that is still the fastest way to gains, even in CrossFit. If size is the price and swole is the goal, nothing beats some strict pull-ups, push-ups with full range of motion and bend-over rows. When competing, we always focus on doing as much work as possible in the shortest amount of time. If that is the main objective, then kipping or butterfly pull-ups sure beat any other form of getting your chin over the bar. Training and competing, two different things.

Some highlights from today:

  • During the seniors class, for a second I thought I was coaching the kids.

  • A fine example of a back-print, proof of hard work

  • Eventhough we try to keep the drama out of Verftet, Kristoffer said "this was the hardest strength training he had over done". Øystein agreed..

At the end of the day, this all led to a whiteboard that looked like this.

Tommorow is the last Friday of the week, which calls for one final push to increase our fitness this week. Don't forget to have a good time! We'll help you out with both the fitness and the good time.
